Rod Holder FAQs

Where would be the best place to put my rod holders?

You actually have a few options as to where you’ll put your rod holders. You can use the accessory rail on the Flip Kat® for easy attachment and access, or if you have a crate on board, you can attach a rod holder there too.

Will the rod holder keep my rod secure if I get a bite?

This will depend a lot on what rod holder you’re using, cause some can handle heavy bites better than others. An adjustable trolling rod holder that locks the rod butt in place are best suited for strong biters you’ll encounter out trolling.

Are rod holders easy to install?

Once again, it depends on the rod holder. A crate-mounted rod is very easy to install but lacks that extra security from getting pulled by a heavy bite. A track-mounted rod holder is both easy and secure, as it slides right on the accessory rail – all you have to do is make sure it’s been tightened. The most complicated install process is a flush-mount, which involves cutting into the deck and sealing the rod holder in place.

Can I put multiple rod holders on the Flip Kat®?

Of course! You can attach around 2 to 4 rod holders, even up to 8 if you really wanted. However you probably don’t want to overcomplicate things, so if you’re really going for it, 4 to 6 rod holders attached are ideal.
